Dominique Stender Good software is only the beginning

About me

I am an IT system architect and manager with a very strong technical background in online application development. Of German origin, I spent three full years in Bangalore, India as an on-site coordinator.

With over ten years of experience in the eBusiness industry I'm regularly involved in every aspect of enterprise-scale database driven eCommerce systems.

My experience focuses on the typical LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP), but as it is with enterprise projects I've come across many other technologies like J2EE, C and C++, Perl, Oracle, Sybase and many others. Frameworks and products including but not limited to Symfony 2, Zend Framework, jQuery, Magento, TYPO3.

I am a active Scrum practitioner for several years now and finished my Scrum Master & Product Owner certifications with the ScrumAlliance in 2009 and 2010, respectively. As such I was and continue to be in charge of the successful adoption of the agile methodology Scrum in several teams and projects.

During my employment at the leading eBusiness supplier in Germany as well as their Indian sister company I was responsible for the development of their internal eCommerce framework, which is in active use by many of Europe's larger retail companies since 2005.

Having returned to Germany in late 2011 I'm now self-employed, focussing on technical consulting, system architecture design and workshops / seminars for agile software development.

I'm convinced that the future of online business lies in widespread adoption of agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban, improvements in time-to-market through concepts like test automation and continuous integration on the technical side, as well as the successful utilization of the new possibilities offered by the now omni present mobile commerce and social networks.
